Michaela Wimmerová
Assoc. Prof. Michaela Wimmerová is a head of Glycobiology group at National Centre for Biomolecular Research. She received her PhD. in biochemistry from Masaryk University, Czech Republic. She spent over one-year as a postdoctoral fellow at Centre de la Recherche sur la Structures Vegetales-CNRS, Grenoble, France. She is the leader of her own research group since 2002, currently of about 20 people. She has supervised 4 postdoctoral fellows, 12 PhD, 32 MSc and 24 BSc students. She has an expertise in protein biochemistry, structural glycobiology, biomolecular interactions, molecular biology and bioinformatics. Her current scientific interests are focused on structure-function studies of proteins involved in host-pathogen interactions and proteins involved in glycoconjugate synthesis. She is responsible for setting-up and running Laboratory of Biomolecular interactions, connecting advanced instrumentation in the field of biomolecular interaction (e.g., surface plasmon resonance, microcalorimetry, dynamic light scattering, CD and fluorescence detected CD spectroscopy, etc) and full crystallization automation.
